A very good friend of mine emailed me yesterday. She had heard about my book getting ready to come out and was very happy for me. She reminded me of a story from years ago. She has 4 boys and I remember once that she was complaining about her boys and their socks. Her boys were not turning their socks right side out and sometimes keeping them all balled up. I told her how I had handled that situation in my home. I like her had a very similar experience with my son. I washed his socks just like he presented them to be washed. When this happened, they were not clean and sometimes a bit damp still from being balled up and inside out. This didn't need to happed to many times for him to learn that he wanted his socks clean. He figured out on his own what he needed to do to get his socks clean. You see he never learned from me "nagging" him, he learned from his consequence.
Fortunatly now, he is a teenager and does his own laundry :-)
